What To Expect

If you would like to book an appointment you can click on the Book Appointment button at any time. From that screen you will be able to select a location closest to you, find a therapist, and you may be able to schedule your first appointment at a date and time that works best for you. Depending on the location, you may have the option to schedule a consultation (for new clients), a therapy appointment (for returning clients) or send a request to one of our staff members who will reply with your options. Or, you can select “Contact Us” to ask questions and request an appointment.

If you choose to contact us to book an appointment you will be greeted by one of our administrative team members. Each clinician has specialty areas of practice and to match you to the right one, you will be asked for a very brief description of the reason for seeking counselling or a specific assessment. At True North, keeping confidentiality is an ethical and professional responsibility we take seriously.  Any information you disclose during the booking process is kept private.

Referrals

We are currently accepting self-referrals, as well as referrals from physicians, hospital groups, governmental agencies and other health professions (i.e. massage therapists, chiropractors, etc.) for our counselling, and assessment services.

Your First Visit

Prior to your first visit you may be provided intake and consent forms via email.  It is our hope that you will review and sign these documents, and we ask that you arrive 5-10 minutes to ensure we have time to double check those forms and gather any other additional information we might need.   If you are covered under an insurance provider, please bring your insurance information with you. (we cannot guarantee direct billing)

Session Length & Quantity

Counselling appointments typically consist of a 50-minute session and 10 minutes of written documentation by the clinician (client not present). If you are seeking a specific assessment this timing may be different; a full description of specific assessments, including the time and cost, will be explained to you before they are administered.

The number of sessions you can expect to have depends on your individual needs. After your first session, your clinician can provide you with more information about the ideal frequency of your sessions.  Of course, it is always up to the client to decide what works best for you.

Rates

Rates for services vary by clinician and the service you are receiving.  Rates can also be different depending on the province in which your clinic is located.  Please ask one of our team members about the rates at the location of your choice.
