Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate

Laslo is a Registered Counselling Therapist candidate with Master of Education (MEd) in Counselling from Acadia University. He has a clinical background in psychiatric nursing and has worked in a variety of clinical roles & settings, including a harm-reduction based methadone clinic, street outreach nurse working with the homeless population, inpatient psychiatry, as well as outpatient mental health clinics. More recently, Laslo has worked at the Nova Scotia Operational Stress Injury (OSI) clinic as an intake clinician and psychotherapist, offering services to active military members, veterans and RCMP officers. He is an experienced group facilitator with Landing Strong, and has co-facilitated numerous groups for veterans and first responders.

Laslo’s approach blends a humanistic and existential approach to mental health that honours the uniqueness of each person’s experience, while appreciating these struggles are shared features of the human condition. His psychotherapy training includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Narrative Therapy, Prolonged Grief Disorder Therapy (PGDT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, and Gottman Method Couples Therapy.

Grounded in a personal practice of mindfulness and exploration into various contemplative traditions, Laslo provides a non-judgemental and safe environment to explore unresolved psychological and emotional challenges that can manifest as a variety of mental health symptoms, relationship challenges, or patterns of self sabotage that can serve as roadblocks to health.
