Mark Watling completed medical school and his psychiatry residency at Dalhousie University. He then completed a clinical fellowship in anxiety disorders at McMaster University.
He worked at the Anxiety Treatment and Research Clinic in Hamilton, Ontario for 8 years, and then worked in outpatient mental health at London Health Sciences Centre in Ontario for 15 years, before taking a job at the Operational Stress Injury (OSI) Clinic in London (where he still works part-time), focusing on the treatment of military veterans and RCMP members. He started working at True North Psychological Services in Nova Scotia in 2024.
He has been very involved in medical education over his career (undergraduate and post-graduate teaching at Dalhousie, McMaster, Western) and is an associate professor in the Department of Psychiatry at Western University.
He has expertise in the assessment and management (medication and cognitive behavioural therapy) of anxiety disorders, PTSD and OCD.
