Amanda earned a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology at Acadia University. As part of her training, she completed a portion of her practicum placement at the NuVista Halifax office and is excited to continue the start of her career here. She believes that a strong therapeutic relationship facilitates well-being and can offer support and empowerment for each client. She uses an attachment and trauma-focused approach to therapy in an effort to create a safe space where clients feel seen, heard, and accepted.
Amanda takes an evidence-based, collaborative, and integrative approach to therapy. Her training has focused on Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT), which are both evidence-based approaches to treatment. She also draws from other approaches such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Mindfulness Therapy based on each individual client’s needs. Amanda also continues to engage in professional continued education training where she is further developing her skills in trauma-focused therapies and is actively engaged in consultation and supervision.
Amanda currently offers individual psychological therapy and counselling to adults facing a variety of challenges, including depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, and other life transitions.
