Alison completed her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Calgary and has been working in healthcare and nonprofit settings in Alberta. She is thrilled to be back in her home province working with clients in the Halifax/Dartmouth area. She has a collaborative, client-centered approach to therapy and believes in drawing on each person’s unique strengths and offering practical skills to manage life’s challenges more effectively. Her aim is to provide a welcoming and nonjudgmental space, help turn down the volume on painful thoughts and feelings, and help you work towards building a meaningful life in line with your own values and goals.
Alison offers perinatal therapy (during pregnancy, postpartum, early parenthood) and individual therapy for mental health concerns (in areas such as trauma, PTSD, veterans, first responders and family members, anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, grief and loss, relationship challenges). Her own journey to motherhood at the beginning of the global pandemic has influenced her growing interest towards maternal mental health. She has completed specialized training in PMADs (Perinatal Mood & Anxiety Disorders) and Perinatal Psychotherapy.
Alison practices from a trauma informed lens, using modalities such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), also drawing on other approaches such as EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy).
