PHD., Psychologist Candidate Registered
Dr. Julie Longard is a Psychologist (Candidate Register) who specializes in work with children/youth and their families. She received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from Dalhousie University in 2018. Dr. Longard works with a variety of children and youth experiencing challenges related to low mood, anxiety, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder, disruptive behaviour, and developmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder. At True North, Dr. Longard is currently focusing on providing psychoeducational assessments for school-aged children and youth between 5 and 18 years of age. These assessments help to provide an understanding of children’s cognitive and academic functioning, along with practical recommendations to help support their learning and development. Psychoeducational assessments provide an overview of a child’s strengths and challenges and can also aid in diagnosis of disorders such as Specific Learning Disorder (previously known as Learning Disability) or Intellectual Disability.
