Marine Decaillet, M.A

M.Ed in Counselling Candidate

Marine is currently completing a Master of Education in Counselling at Acadia University and working as counselling intern at True North. She is welcoming new clients and offering sessions at a reduced fee while she completes her practicum.

Before training as a counsellor, Marine earned a Master of Arts in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Bordeaux, France, and worked in international development with federal agencies and non-profits in Canada and abroad. These experiences shaped her passion for building resilience, practicing cultural sensitivity, and the importance of honouring diverse life experiences.

Marine’s counselling style is warm, collaborative, and grounded in compassion. She tailors therapy to each individual, drawing from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Attachment Theory, Narrative Therapy, and psychodynamic approaches. She also integrates her anthropological background into her clinical work, bringing a multicultural, systemic, feminist, and trauma-informed perspective.

Her clinical interests include working with adults and young adults facing anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex and developmental trauma, and relational difficulties, with a particular focus on supporting emotional regulation and fostering self-worth. She also has a particular interest in supporting single individuals who may experience ambivalence with their relationship status, helping them move toward clarity, empowerment, and self-acceptance.

Marine is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and affirming space where clients feel supported in their growth, healing, and sense of belonging.

She offers counselling services in both English and French.
