Ms. Shymkiw completed her Masters Degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Regina in 2004. She is a Registered Psychologist with the Saskatchewan College of Psychologists with Authorized Practice Endorsement (APE) which allows her to diagnose psychiatric disorders. Areas of psychological practice competence are in counselling, clinical (assessment, diagnosis, treatment), psychoeducation (assessment and instruction) and forensic populations. She is also a certified trainer with Living Works Education.

Ms. Shymkiw has been working in both the public sector and private practice as a counsellor/educator since 2000. She has primarily worked with adolescents and adults clients presenting with mood and anxiety disorders, chronic pain, eating disorders, occupational stress, life transitions, parent-teen conflict and/or marital/relationship challenges. Ms. Shymkiw uses intervention strategies from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and/or Interpersonal Therapy as indicated by presenting issues.

Joanne offers counselling to counselling to adults, age 18 and over  She provides individual and couples counselling.
