Heather brings over 15 years of experience working across a variety of settings including residential programs, outreach services, community-based programs as well as her own private practice. She specializes in working with youth and adults living with addictions and disordered eating, in addition to trauma, anxiety and mood disorders. She uses a compassionate, holistic, client-centered approach and works collaboratively with clients to identify their goals. Using various therapeutic approaches she will help you build a pathway to improving your self awareness and emotional wellness. Her warm and empathetic approach recognizes that trusting and being vulnerable in counseling is difficult, and she believes that building a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship is a fundamental component of the healing process. Heather is a Registered Psychotherapist and is trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy CBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy DBT, Emotion Focused Therapy EFT and Motivational Interviewing. She has worked within the Ottawa School Boards, Youth Justice System and non-profit sector. Heather has also worked with provincial pilot projects to develop collaborative and inclusive carecoordiantion ofr individuals living with complex mental and physical health conditions. Heather believes in contributing to the community through ongoing volunteer efforts with local non-profit charities that have included special needs music education, and animal rescue and protection organizations.
