Mackenzie is joining True North as a practicum student and brings several years of formal education and relevant work experience with her.
Mackenzie is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University, and holds a bachelor’s degree from Acadia where she majored in both Psychology and Nutrition.
Mackenzie has spent the past several years working in the field of trauma recovery, in the capacity of program development and co-facilitation of intensive group-based programs designed specifically for Veteran and First Responder populations.
She has completed additional training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive-Behavioural Conjoint Therapy for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (CBCT for PTSD), and incorporating Internal Family Systems (IFS) concepts into trauma treatment.
Mackenzie values a collaborative, strengths-based approach to health and healing. She is highly motivated to support clients using a pace and approach that feels right for them.
As a graduate student Mackenzie will be joining the True North team for her practicum placement from May to December, she will be offering therapy at a reduced rate while working towards her degree. Mackenzie is currently accepting new clients and her current clinical interests include individuals 10+ dealing with anxiety, depression, grief and loss, stress, and other adjustment concerns.
