Devota is a Clinical Social Worker/Clinical Therapist who has over 25 years of experience in mental health services, including inpatient, outpatient and many community settings.  Throughout this time Devota has had the opportunity to work people with various mental health and addictions issues.

Devota practices a counselling style that is collaborative, supportive, educational, respectful, non-judgmental, strength-based and flexible according to the needs of the client at the time. 

Devota has experience and training in and incorporates a combination of the following therapies, depending on the needs of the client:  Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Reality Therapy (RT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Trauma Focused CBT (TF-CBT), and Mindfulness.

Devota enjoys working with people looking for support with the following:

  • Coping difficulties
  • Repeating unhelpful patterns
  • Self-Esteem

Devota enjoys working with people who have difficulty identifying the problem or issue but they know they are unhappy, dissatisfied or their mental health is not optimal; in addition, sometimes the issue identified is only part of the problem.  Having an objective listener and being asked self-reflective questions can help you get a better understanding and perspective.  She enjoys helping clients with this exploration to help improve their mental wellness and quality of life.
